Logo is a very essential part of branding; it serves as a symbol or trademark of the company that it represents for. It is the very first thing the customers will see once they see your store from afar, and they also recognize products through the logos. It can also help catch the customers attention.

Creating logo designs can be complicated, so you really need to think hard about the logo design that you will create. It should be attractive and something that can create impact on the customers so that they will not forget about it. It should also be different or authentic from your competitors, your logo, alone should communicate with your consumers. Some companies who have nice logos are Reebok, Nike McDonalds, Red Cross and more. Logos comes in different types, there are icon and text combination, word mark or letter mark (text/abbreviated text), and icon (symbol/ brand mark). Perfect logos stimulate the senses, create emotions and memorable.

There are so many characteristics of logo designs, it should be efficient, well-designed, authentic and should highlight the company product or service. The artist that will do the logo design must be knowledgeable about the different aspects of colors, space, clarity, consistency and form. Choose colors that are easy on the eyes. Most logo designers use vector graphics in creating logos because it is very effective.

Avoid copying any other logo design, violating copyrights and trademarks of other companies can put you in prison. Do not use any persons face and any other pictures without their consent. It is not advisable to place too many effects on the logo design such as shadows, embossed image or glares since they should be adaptable enough once they are printed in materials that creases or folds.

Colors in logo design play a very essential role. The colors can convey emotions and meanings. For example green means health, red for passion and white means peace. Colors like yellow and orange highlights lightness and warmth while colors like brown and purple can make you feel heavy. There are certain colors that can make you feel relaxed and there are certain colors that tend to make you feel sad. Your logo design should also have any of the patterns; examples of patterns are spirals, pop, droplets, shadows, photo icons wire, labels, transparency, face, punctuation and more.

A logo is a name, icon, or trademark of a company’s identity. Logos come in many varieties from text logos, symbols collaborated with text, or just an icon. What ever the design of the logo is it always has the same goal, to portray the company image.

Companies choose to use logos because the human mind can process images faster than words alone. This allows a client to just glance at their logo and identify the company. The logo also serves as a visual representation of “What we’re about” with out all the words.

Text logos are a subset of letters put together to form a word or acronym. Although that sounds like a normal word they are in fact images when they are finished because of the effects and font applied to the text. For example a thick font conveys strength and power. A slanted or italic font conveys movement, and a script font conveys elegance.

A symbol uses an image to convey a representation of what the company does. Because a symbol is more generic then text it allows for a wider interpretation of what the company does.

Colors in a logo should match the corporate image the company is trying to convey. For example a technology company may select a contemporary look with shapes and symbols and select a black and white color palette to add to the contemporary look. While a financial institution may take on a more conservative look with their logo and select blues, dark reds, and dark greens to add to their conservative image.

Logos should be unique and different. When someone views a company logo they should immediately associate that logo with only one company. Companies should use clipart sparingly as it is probable that another company may use it as well. Companies should also not use common fonts as it defeats the purpose of having a logo that stands out and can portray a company that is unimaginative and bland.
